It also gives the bright, open foreground look of a nature-style scape.<\/p>\n<p>This is washed, graded silica sand with no carbonate content, so it will not raise your pH or hardness.<\/p>\n<h4>Setup notes<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Rinse before use until the water runs clear. Sand carries fine dust even when pre-washed.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the layer shallow, 2 &#8211; 3 cm. Deep sand beds can develop anaerobic pockets.<\/li>\n<li>Stir the top layer gently during water changes to release trapped gas.<\/li>\n<li>Sand is inert.
