What a glass garden actually is

A glass garden is a contained slice of a natural habitat: plants, water, substrate, light and livestock arranged so the system finds its own balance and then simply grows. Done properly it needs less attention than a houseplant. Done as a shopping list of equipment bolted onto a tank, it becomes an algae farm.

The difference is almost entirely in the planning – light intensity matched to plant selection, substrate depth matched to root structure, flow that reaches every corner, and a stocking level the filter can actually carry. We work all of that out before anyone buys glass.

We grow our own plants

Most aquatic plants sold in India are grown emersed – out of water, in a nursery, with their leaves in air. They look excellent on the shelf and then melt back completely when submerged, because the plant has to grow an entirely new set of aquatic leaves.

Ours are grown submerged. They transition into your tank without the melt, which is the single biggest reason a first planted tank succeeds or fails.

Livestock is quarantined

The fastest way to sell fish cheaply is to sell them straight off the transport. It is also the fastest way to put flukes into somebody’s discus tank. Every fish is held, observed daily and confirmed feeding before it is listed, which is why some of our prices are higher than an importer’s – and why we can tell you what a fish has been eating.

Advice, honestly given

We will tell you when a fish or a plant is wrong for your setup, even when that means not making the sale. Discus in a 2 ft tank, a carpet plant under a weak light, a common pleco in a finished aquascape – these end badly, and we would rather sell you something that works.
