Description

Aquasoil is baked granular clay loaded with nutrients. Unlike garden soil it does not break down into silt, and unlike inert gravel it actively feeds root-feeding plants for a year or more before supplementary root tabs are needed.

Bloomsoil is manufactured in India, which is the only reason a 9 litre bag costs what it does rather than three times as much after import freight.

Coverage

• 1 ft tank: 3 litres
• 2 ft tank: 9 litres
• 3 ft tank: 18 litres
• 4 ft tank: 27 litres

Setup notes

• Do not rinse it. Rinsing washes out the nutrients and breaks up the granules.
• Fill the tank slowly onto a plate or a bag to avoid cratering the substrate.
• Fresh aquasoil leaches ammonia for the first two to three weeks. Cycle the tank before adding livestock – plants can go in immediately.
• Expect the pH to drop by 0.5 to 1.0 initially. This is normal and settles.
• Aim for a 5 – 6 cm depth at the back, tapering to 2 – 3 cm at the front.
