Description

Dragon stone, also sold as Ohko stone, is a clay rock eroded into deep pits and holes. Those crevices are perfect for tucking in bucephalandra, anubias and moss, and the ochre colour contrasts strongly with green planting.

Crucially it is inert – unlike limestone or seiryu stone it does not leach carbonates, so it will not raise your pH or hardness. That makes it the safe choice for soft-water tanks and shrimp.

Usage notes

• 5 kg is enough for a 2 ft layout. Buy in one order so the pieces match in colour and texture.
• Rinse and scrub before use – dragon stone carries loose clay dust.
• It is soft and crumbly at the edges. Handle with care and avoid dropping it on glass.
• Use an odd number of stones with one clear focal piece. Even numbers look staged.
