Description

A sponge filter cannot suck in a shrimplet or a fry, which is why breeders use nothing else. It provides mechanical and biological filtration with a very gentle current, driven by an air pump rather than an impeller.

The dual-sponge design roughly doubles the surface area available for bacteria compared with a single sponge on the same lift tube.

Setup notes

• An air pump and airline are required and sold separately.
• Squeeze the sponges out in a bucket of tank water during water changes. Never rinse under the tap.
• Keep one sponge in an established tank as a seeded spare – it lets you set up a quarantine tank instantly.
• Suits tanks up to about 80 litres as the sole filter, or any size as supplementary filtration.
